Your visit to Palazzo del Quirinale can be of two kind:
- the first artistic-institutional that includes the tour of the Piano Nobile, the Ground Floor and it costs 1,50€;
- the second artistic-institutional and thematic that includes the first kind and a tour of the Vasella room, the Gardens, the collection of Carriages and it costs 10€.
Reservation is mandatory for both of them and may be made online or calling the number +39 0639967557 from Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. and 2:00-5:00 p.m., Saturday, 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., closed on Sunday; or at the Infopoint, Salita di Montecavallo, 15 on the days in which the Palace is open, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
You will be astonished by the great hall of the cuirassiers, the tapestries, the frescoes, the furniture decorating the rooms, the beautiful Murano lamps, the majestic wooden ceilings. The tour is guided by volunteer personnel recruited through agreements with the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and the Italian Touring Club. I liked a lot the carriages and if the weather is good the tour of the gardens is very beautiful.
Changing the guard
Furthermore every hour there is the usual changing of the guard while on Sunday and on feast day there is the solemn one which lasts for about 20 minutes: don’t miss it!
The concert at the Quirinale
Then there are the concerts at Quirinale that take place every Sunday at 11:50 a.m. They are free but you need to book. You must go 50 minutes before the scheduled beginning.
