In Rome, even if some stores show Christmas decorations all the year, usually in Piazza San Pietro, Christmas preparations start in the first half of November. You can see pieces of scaffolding piled up near the obelisk in the centre of the square; then they are assembled and surrounded by pieces of cloth to hid the work of realization of the crib wich is always different.
Near the crib there is a fir, in a huge flower-pot, that is decorated using a crane. The 8th of December the crib and the fir will be switched on and the Jubilee will begin.
